MedAustron ist eines der Aush\u00e4ngeschilder unserer Stadt: Ist es doch mit einem Investitionsvolumen von 200 Millionen \u20ac einerseits ein gewaltiger Wirtschaftsfaktor bei der Errichtung und Instandhaltung, sowie mit rund 180 hoch qualifizierten Arbeitspl\u00e4tzen ein wichtiger Arbeitgeber\u00a0und andererseits auch Wegweiser, welchen Weg die \u201eAllzeit Getreue\u201c in Zukunft gehen wird \u2013 vor allem ist es aber auch Hoffnungstr\u00e4ger von tausenden Krebspatienten! Als Arzt freue ich mich nat\u00fcrlich, dass ich politisch gerade in Wiener Neustadt t\u00e4tig sein darf, wo der medizinische und gesundheitliche Aspekt eine immer bedeutendere Rolle spielt \u2013 auch f\u00fcr das Selbstverst\u00e4ndnis unserer Stadt.<\/p>\n

Und hinter viel Technik stecken nat\u00fcrlich \u201erauchende K\u00f6pfe\u201c, die das Bild der \u201erauchenden Schlote\u201c ebenfalls immer mehr abl\u00f6sen. Dies soll keine Mindersch\u00e4tzung der Industrie sein\u00a0\u2013 im Gegenteil: das eine bedingt das andere, wenn man national und international eine Rolle spielen m\u00f6chte. Doch war gerade Forschung und Innovation nicht immer ein Aush\u00e4ngeschild \u00d6sterreichs, dementsprechend kann man mit Stolz darauf schauen, dass hier Wiener Neustadt mit seinen Einrichtungen wie zu Zeiten Ferdinand Porsches wieder ein Hot-Spot des Wissens in\u00a0\u00d6sterreich wird.<\/p>\n

Einer dieser \u201egeistigen\u201c Hotspots ist Prof. Dr. Eugen Hug, der medizinische Leiter von MedAustron. Einer, der sich als Teil der \u201e2. Generation\u201c der Ionentherapie sieht und \u00fcber seine wissenschaftlichen T\u00e4tigkeiten in Deutschland und den USA den Weg in die \u201eAllzeit Getreue\u201c gefunden hat. Im Rahmen der Kremser Kamingespr\u00e4che, bei denen Pers\u00f6nlichkeiten aus Wissenschaft, Kultur, Wirtschaft und Politik als Gastreferenten zu markanten Themen diskutieren und die im Rahmen Ihrer \u201eon tour\u201c-Reihe einen Stopp im Stadttheater von\u00a0Wiener Neustadt machten, diskutiere Prof. Hug mit B\u00fcrgermeister Schneeberger unter Moderation von Michael Battisti\u00a0\u00fcber MedAustron, dessen Anwendung, Perspektiven und darin gesetzte Erwartungen. In gewohnter explorativer Bescheidenheit legte Prof. Hug dar, dass er nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt eines kleinen Teils der Behandlung von Krebs mit seiner Disziplin vertrete. Er warte auch davor, den \u201eStrahl\u201c als \u201eWunderwaffe\u201c zu sehen, die nun alle onkologischen Probleme beseitigen k\u00f6nne; umgekehrt w\u00e4re bei einigen Tumorarten durchaus mit positiven Aspekten zu rechnen, die den Menschen \u201eAngst nehmen und Hoffnung geben k\u00f6nnte\u201c.<\/p>\n

Als Vorstand des Aufsichtsrates von MedAustron ist B\u00fcrgermeister Klaus Schneeberger auch direkt in dieses Zukunftsprojekt eingebunden. Auch er hob den wissenschaftlichen und medizinischen Aspekt hervor \u2013 der in weiterer Folge nat\u00fcrlich auch der Stadt Arbeitspl\u00e4tze und Wertsch\u00f6pfung verschaffe.<\/p>\n
