Geburtstag der Kaiserin. Maria Theresia wurde am 13. Mai 1717 als zweites Kind Kaiser Karls VI. geboren. Mit der pragmatischen Sanktion hatte der Kaiser 1713 bereits die weibliche Erbfolge im Hause geregelt. Nach dem Tod des Vaters trat Maria Theresia seine Nachfolge in den habsburgischen Ländern an. Ihr Mut zur Verantwortung brachte dem Ländergefüge zahlreiche Reformen, die weit über ihre Regierungszeit hinaus wirksam blieben.
